Gaidar Institute Press has been nominated for the annual Grushin Prize. Bertrand Russell's “Power: A New Social Analysis”  translated by Dmitry Kralechkin was shortlisted in the Best Translation category.

In the summer of 2025, the Gaidar Institute’s Center for Evidence-Based Expertise carried out a study timed to coincide with the adoption of the Federal Law “On Certain Issues of Platform Economy Regulation in the Russian Federation.” The study was focused on a comprehensive analysis of the new law, international trends in the regulation of digital platforms—in particular, marketplaces—as well as an examination of the structure of the Russian market and the experience of partners and consumers interacting with the largest platforms.

In the summer of 2025, Russia adopted Federal Law No. 289-FZ of July 31, 2025, "On certain issues of regulating the platform economy" (hereinafter referred to as the Platform economy law), establishing rules for various marketplace commercial practices:

From October 25 to November 2, 2025,  the 68th International Book Fair, a significant cultural event in South-Eastern Europe, will be held in Belgrade, Serbia. The Gaidar Institute Press is a participant in the Russian exposition at the book fair.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce that on October 22, 2025, at the age of 95, the outstanding scientist, full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Principal Researcher at the Gaidar Institute, Revold Mikhailovich Entov, passed away.

On October 22, 2025, Alexander Yuryevich Knobel, Senior Researcher at the International Trade Department of the Gaidar Institute, defended thesis for the degree of Doctor of Sciences before the Thesis committee of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration. The topic of his research is “A Theoretical and Methodological Approach to Assessing the Impact of Foreign Economic Activity on the Development of the Russian Economy.”

Researchers of the Gaidar Institute’s International Best Practices Analysis Department prepared the next issue of the Monitoring of Legal Regulation of the Digital Economy №9(21),September 2025 where they talked about new trends in the development of regulation of the digital economy in the world.

On October 21, 2025, Andrey Polbin was at the RANEPA's Thesis committee for the defense of his doctorate thesis in economic studies. The topic of his scientific work is “Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Macroeconomic Modeling of Economic Systems with High Dependence on Hydrocarbons.”

Voprosy Ekonomiki journal published an article by Andrey Zubarev, Senior Researcher at the Department for Digital Finance, and Sofia Kolesnic, Researcher at the Monetary Policy Department, where authors considered the Asymmetry of the Bank of Russia’s monetary policy: Effects on macroeconomic indicators

On October 18–19, the Gaidar Institute Publishing House will take part in the 10^th jubilee Rassvet Book Fair.

On October 13, the Nobel Committee announced the 2025 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences to the eminent economic historian Joel Mokyr. The award was given for identifying the historical preconditions for sustained economic growth through technological progress and demonstrating that continuous innovation requires not only practical knowledge but also a scientific understanding of how technology works.

The Gaidar Institute presents a new project – an original podcast “Economics on Air,” in which experts analyze current trends and events in the field of economics in detail. The focus is on key issues such as the development of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, price dynamics, the national currency exchange rate, digital asset regulation, inflationary processes, and labor market transformation.

Natalya Volchkova, Professor at the New Economic School (NES), Director of the NES Center for Financial and Economic Research, the VAVT Vice-Rector for Research, prepared a review on the book by Kate Manne ”Down Girl: The Logic of Misogyny”, issued by the Gaidar Publishing House in 2025.

From October 8 to 11, 2025, the VIII Interregional Investment and Financial Forum was held in Kaliningrad, bringing together representatives of the financial and real sectors of the economy, government authorities, the scientific community, and business. Alexey Vedev, Doctor of Economic Sciences and Leading Researcher at the Financial Research Department of the Gaidar Institute, took part in the forum.
